First CKC National Specialty Winner!
On August 6th, 2016, the Berger Picard Club Canada held the very first CKC National Specialty in Quebec City, Quebec. Once again, Lauren did a beautiful job handling Ekeko, and we were extremely honoured to have Ekeko selected as Best of Breed by Judge Christian Jouanchicot of France. This was an amazing finish to Ekeko's conformation career, as this will be his last conformation show. Ekeko will be spending his time playing frisbee and doing trick training, nose work, and barn hunt, with a bit of agility thrown in for good measure.

FCC Champion Elite!Ekeko earned his Elite Champion title at the Canine Federation of Canada all breed show in Montreal, QC in September 2013. It is another first for a Berger Picard to earn this title. We are honoured to have received this title from the visiting FCI judges from France and Slovenia! Ekeko was also awarded two Group 1's and a Group 2 from the French judges.
FCI judges provide a written assessment of each dog based on its breed standard, and rate the dog against the breed standard. A Champion dog must receive 4 Excellent ratings to earn an Elite Champion title. |
Ekeko was invited to the UKC 2012 Top Ten competition at Premier in June 2013, and was awarded 2nd place behind his stunning niece in an exceptional group of dogs. He also earned an Award of Merit for placing in this outstanding group. Thank you to judge Sharon Redmer for this memorable honour! |

Premier is UKC's biggest show of the year, and is held annually in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It attracts the best dogs from across the country, and is where the top 10 dogs from each breed are invited to compete. The June 2011 Premier was Ekeko's very first UKC show, and he made us very proud winning Best of Breed in a very competitive group of approximately 30 Berger Picards and placing third in a very competitive Herding Group! Ekeko earned his Champion title in the subsequent shows that weekend, and also had the honour of winning Best of Winners at the national Berger Picard specialty show.
Since Ekeko's first UKC show, he has finished in the Top Ten in UKC each year, and Premier is definitely our favourite show! Thank you to Kati Barricklow for getting such a fantastic photo of this special honour! |
