On August 6th, 2016, the Berger Picard Club Canada held the very first CKC National Specialty in Quebec City, Quebec. Once again, Lauren did a beautiful job handling Ekeko, and we were extremely honoured to have Ekeko selected as Best of Breed by Judge Christian Jouanchicot of France. This was an amazing finish to Ekeko's conformation career, as this will be his last conformation show. Ekeko will be spending his time playing frisbee and doing trick training, nose work, and barn hunt, with a bit of agility thrown in for good measure.
First CKC Grand Champion!
In December 2015, CKC history was made when Ekeko became the only Berger Picard ever to earn a Grand Champion title in the Canadian Kennel Club. To say that we are proud of him would be an understatement! Best of all, Ekeko has always been owner handled, and most successfully by our daughter. She and Ekeko are a wonderful team.
UKC 2013 Top Ten Invitational Best of Breed!
Ekeko earned an invitation to the UKC 2013 Top Ten competition at Premier in June 2014, and was awarded Best of Breed in an extremely competitive group of dogs. The Top Ten is an exclusive competition in which only the top ten dogs of each breed are invited to participate. To be chosen as Best of Breed from this exemplary group of dogs is truly an honour!
Best in Multi-Breed Show!
FCC Elite CH Ekeko de la Vallee d'Ottawa was awarded Best in Show at the Canine Federation of Canada all breed show in Montreal, QC in September 2013. This was truly an exceptional honour. The caliber of the dogs competing was outstanding, and to be selected as Best in Show by a judge from France who has had the opportunity to judge many Berger Picards is the highest compliment we could receive. A sincere thanks to judge Roger Barenne.
FCC Champion Elite!

Best of Breed at Premier 2013!
The UKC Premier is the largest UKC show of the year, and was our very first UKC show several years ago. We look forward to it every year. There is a wonderful Berger Picard specialty show, as well as all sorts of performance events. The days are just packed, and it is the best opportunity to see so many Berger Picards and their people all having fun together. For the Premier in June of 2013, there were more than 20 Berger Picards entered in the shows on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. UR01 CAX GRCH Ekeko de la Vallee d'Ottawa had the honour of winning Best of Breed for the Friday and Sunday shows and Best of the Grand Champions for Saturday. It was incredibly exciting to see him chosen from such a wonderful group of dogs. Thank you to judges Carlos Rodriquez and Charles Scott for the priviledge of representing the Berger Picard in the Herding group.

The lure coursing was set up just outside of the conformation building, and the sound of the motor starting up is Ekeko's favourite sound. A special congratulations should go to my daughter, Lauren, for being able to keep Ekeko in the conformation ring and focused on the task at hand with such an incredible distraction!

Group 3 at Premier!
Premier is UKC's biggest show of the year, and is held annually in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It attracts the best dogs from across the country, and is where the top 10 dogs from each breed are invited to compete. The June 2011 Premier was Ekeko's very first UKC show, and he made us very proud winning Best of Breed in a very competitive group of approximately 30 Berger Picards and placing third in a very competitive Herding Group! Ekeko earned his Champion title in the subsequent shows that weekend, and also had the honour of winning Best of Winners at the national Berger Picard specialty show.
Since Ekeko's first UKC show, he has finished in the Top Ten in UKC each year, and Premier is definitely our favourite show!
Thank you to Kati Barricklow for getting such a fantastic photo of this special honour!
